The Best Christmas Gift Ideas for Active Moms

Every year, as my birthday and Christmas creep up, I’m undoubtedly asked by family members to “send a list of what you want!”. I feel like at any other time, I could rattle off 10 things I could use, but when I’m asked to produce a list, I’m at a loss!

On the flip side, it would be so helpful to know exactly what to get those on my list. Whether you are baffled at what to get your friends, or sitting with a blank email of a wish list, here are a few of my favorite things, perfect for every active mama out there!

Full Support Sports Bra

Your boobs go through a lot between pregnancy and early motherhood. Having a sports bra that supports you and is comfortable is clutch, and style is a total bonus. 90 Degree has a super cute high impact style that is sure to keep your girls in place. And check out their color selection!

Full Zip Sports Bra (perfect for breastfeeding moms)

I never felt the need for a zipper on my sports bra until I got back from a run and Owen needed to nurse before I could even think about hopping in the shower.

Sure, you can try to time nursing around your workouts (heavy emphasis on try), and it’s possible to quickly get a boob out of a sweaty sports bra – you know, if you’re a contortionist, but how about making at least one thing a bit easier?

I got my front-zip bra from Athleta and love it still even though my breastfeeding days are behind me.

Gym to Life Coverup

As a mom, it’s a challenge enough to get a workout in, much less a shower and change of clothes. A nice cover-up layer is a lifesaver, helping you look – and feel – put together after a workout when the logistics of a wardrobe change aren’t possible.

Layering options are nearly endless, but this wrap from Athleta is one you will depend on and goes with everything!

Leggings with a pocket

I never want to buy yoga pants without a pocket again! With a toddler I’m bouncing from room to room and when we leave the house there are 938,847 things in my hands. Having a pocket on my person at all times that actually holds my phone is crucial!

These leggings come in different colors and styles like short and cropped so stock up!

Apple Watch

I used to be a FitBit addict, but when my husband had me test out his Apple Watch, I was a quick convert. Look, the FitBit is awesome, but if you have an iPhone, the Apple Watch is so much more than fitness stats.

When you’re in the middle of bathtime and your spouse calls, a quick hit of Accept puts you in touch without having to find – and hold – your phone. The sleep app helps you track your sleep quality, and the activity rings keep you accountable to more than just steps.

Awesome Yoga Mat

I got this as a gift last year and at first sight thought it was more of a gimmick, the way it rolled back like a slap bracelet, but it turned out to be a great mat!

It’s great for outdoor classes as it stays put with any wind, but what I like the best is what it’s known for: retracting with minimal effort. I would roll my eyes at someone who thinks rolling up their mat is hard, but it’s not just that. With a typical yoga mat, you need something to carry it in so it doesn’t unroll when traveling. This mat rolls up and stays rolled so you grab it and go. It’s amazing!!

Dry Shampoo

Showers are a sacred, and they happen much less often than you want. A cover-up will only get you so far when your hair is telling everyone that you clearly haven’t showered since…what day is it, again?

Dry shampoo is a staple for seasoned moms, especially those who like to fit exercise into their packed schedules. This specific product is vegan and cruelty-free.

Stainless Steel Water Bottle

You may have a drawer full of abandoned water bottles, but getting a nice stainless steel one will save you space because you can get rid of all the rest. Plastic bottles can leech chemicals into your water, and grabbing a new plastic water bottle takes way more water to create than is actually in it.

In short, stainless steel water bottles are healthier for you and the environment. Personally, I like one with a spout when I’m working out, and preferable one that doesn’t leak when my toddler gets a hold of it. For me, Kleen Kanteen fits that bill.
